In 506th command Hal Shook was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 19 Oak Leaf clusters, a Presidential Unit Citation, Belgian Croix de Guerre, French Croix de Guerre with Palm, and Belgian Fourregere. He holds the Commendation Medal with cluster and Legion of Merit.

He flew 105 combat missions, commanded Air Force units: 300 (fighter squadron) to 5000 (air division) people. 25 years consulting: Team Building, Leadership and related.
