Bio: Lifelong airplane enthusiast, son of Douglas/N.A. Aviation engineer. At age 15-16, Lineboy for Kentucky Flying Service, Bowman Field, KY, home base for Paul & Gene Soucy's Pitts in 1970s. Soloed on 16th birthday, November 1973 at Bowman Field, Louisville, KY. Studied aerodynamics at fame Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, Brussels, Belgium, on USAF scholarship. Employed early in career as aerodynamicist by German aircraft maker Dornier, Lake Constance, Germany. (fluent in German) Worked on a variety of A/C, including Dornier Alpha Jet, Egyptian MiG-21, SF-340 turboprop, IA-63 jet trainer, TKF fighter (Typhoon), Do-228 commuter, others. In most recent position as president of CEI, have visited most of world's aerospace & defense manufacturers, research and test facilities. Learned to fly gliders at famed "Hornberg" school in Germany. Former newsletter editor for EAA Chapter 1114, Cox Field, Apex, NC. Newsletter won first prize in EAA newsletter contest in 1998. Currently newsletter editor and webmaster for IAC Chapter 19. Newsletter won first prize in EAA newsletter contest in 2007. Own 1952 Cessna 170B since 2003, based at Cox Field, Apex, NC. Other aircraft previously owned: 1966 Cessna 150F, DR-107 One Design aerobatic plane. TT: about 700 hours. Received basic instruction in aerobatics in 12/2006 from Keoki Gray of Amelia Island Aerobatics, former Red Baron Stearman pilot. In early stages of planning for warbird-ization of my C-170 as well as construction of an aerobatic airplane. Landed for first time at Oshkosh AirVenture with son, Tim, in C-170 this year.
