March 2008

Meeting Minutes

Our regularly scheduled monthly meeting was called to order Sat, 15 March

2008, at 10:00 AM, by George Tamvakis;

It was noted that Tom and Sandy Saccio were not in attendance due to their

involvement in the “Wright Flight” student flying event taking place at

Washington, NC at the same time as our meeting

New members were introduced, and welcomed to the Chapter. They are:

Richard Balzer

Louis B Palmer “Skip”

Jack Hill

Steve Spaanbroek

Allen Clark

Financial account was announced.

Plans for the up and coming Fly-In were discussed, and the flyer for the event

was displayed. A sign-up sheet was passed around for those present to sign up for

various positions needed for the Fly-In. The Fly-in is still tracking for the 26th of

April. If you would like to help out, contact Charles Lewis, or Berry St John.

The Virginia Regional Festival of Flight was also discussed. This is the new

name for the Virginia Regional EAA Fly-in. It will be held at the Suffolk Executive

Airport (SFQ), June 14-15. More information can be seen at

www.Virginiaflyin.org.

We had a very interesting guest speaker. Retired Col. Hal Shook gave a verbal

rendition of his “Bird’s eye view of history”. The presentation and pamphlet handout

were very interesting. With the Col’s permission; an attempt has been made to

attach the pamphlet to this Newsletter (attached with unnumbered pages to the

back of this Newsletter). Due to different column format the print is very fine. For

those of you that are reading this from your computer, just go to a larger print

option. For those that print the Newsletter out, you may have to use a reading

magnifier. Sorry.

Our sincere thanks go to The Col. for his very interesting presentation.
