EAA CHAPTER 1423 January 19, 2007 Minutes
George Tamvakis called the meeting to order at 10:05 am.
He distributed the Meal/Program sheet and asked members to volunteer for cooking and giving programs.
George discussed a 2-day seminar on sheet metal given by George Orndorff that would cost $250 per person which we could schedule on a week-end other than meeting week-end. John Knapp suggested viewing some of the videos before we agree to do the seminar.
George mentioned that the EAA website has a database of EAA Speaker Programs and their availability in our area. Tom Saccio volunteered to check these programs and inform members about what may be available to us.
There is an EAA Student program for kids that are 17 and under which costs $10. They receive a special membership package that includes CDs, glider and information on aviation. Chris Tamvakis has joined the EAA through this program. In addition, Chris soloed on December 31, 2007 and was presented with his framed solo tee shirt.
Special thanks given to Marv Jensen for his newsletter and Josh Brehm for the work done on the website. The chapter will be submitting their names for the EAA competition.
FLY-INs It was mentioned that the Farmville EAA chapter has scheduled their Spring Fly-In for May 3rd which would be a conflict with our scheduled fly-in. We will reconfirm their fly-in date and change ours to April 26 if necessary. Burgaw/Wilmington fly-in scheduled for May 10 Suffolk, VA should be on June 13, 14 and 15 Bill Hood Fly-in November 1
Bob Neil congratulated on receiving his pilot's license.
Sandy Saccio gave the Treasurer's report.
We are still looking for "artwork", bookshelves, TV and other furniture for the building. There was a discussion regarding purchasing a projector for the Chapter and possible donations from members to supplement the cost. Josh Brehm mentioned Overstock.com as a possible source for a projector. George will be sending e-mails out regarding dues and the projector.
Bill Hood, Ray Jancy and Chris Lucas introduced themselves. Bill is our newest member.
Everyone talked about the status of existing and new projects.
Charles Lewis mentioned setting up a committee for the Spring Fly-In and graciously "volunteered" to head the committee. Berry St. John offered to assist him. George gave a program on Earth Rounders. The meeting was adjourned at noon and lunch was donated by Heather and George Tamvakis. |
