MEETING SUMMARY

EAA Chapter 1423

Saturday, December 17, 2005

The meeting of Chapter 1423 was called to order at 11:00 am by George Tamvakis, President.

George briefly welcomed returning members and new visitors to the meeting which was held at the home of Charles and Judy Lewis. The new visitors introduced themselves and spoke a little about their aviation interests.

The minutes from the November 19, 2005 meeting were read by Laura Lee Potter, Secretary. The motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes.

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Laura Lee Potter. As of this meeting, $980.00 has been collected in dues from new members.

George updated the group on new items concerning the Chapter including:

• The chapter has received all necessary paperwork from the NC Dept. of the Secretary of State establishing its status as a “Nonprofit Corporation”.
• The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) has been received for the Chapter.

Now that the above items are in place, EAA Chapter 1423 now meets all of EAA National regulations. The Chapter is still considered a “Provisional Chapter” until the Officers sign the Chapter’s By-Laws and send them to EAA National. Once that is completed, EAA Chapter 1423 will be an official chapter.

• The banner for the Chapter has been ordered but not received yet. George ordered the standard format that EAA supplies. It will have the EAA logo and “EAA 1423, Winterville, NC” printed on the banner.
• George informed the group that the original cost of insurance through the EAA was going to cost $145. However, the rate has increased. George has paid the difference, so the insurance is now paid in full for 2006.
• Members were reminded to sign up for meal duty for future meetings. George will send an email shortly asking for volunteers.
• Members were also reminded that annual dues are $75.00 which includes meals. The dues paid now will cover membership through 2006. Current dues should be paid no later than the January meeting.

Bob Neil, our Webmaster updated the group on progress to the Chapter website. He is continuing his work to include contact information for the Officers of EAA 1423, the Webmaster and the Young Eagles Coordinator. He is also setting up more links to various sites including EAA’s national website. Per Bob, the hosting cost for the website will be $36 per year. This included email capability. It was suggested that it would be helpful if an email could be forwarded to all members in the group. It was also suggested that a “Share a Ride” link be added to the website. Bob will work on implementing these suggestions on the website.

Having no further business to discuss, George led the group in thanking Charles and Judy for their hospitality. The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am followed by a covered dish lunch and an entertaining game of “Silly Santa”.
