EAA MEETING MINUTES July 21, 2007
George Tamvakis called the meeting to order at 10:05 am.
Members who have not attended meetings in a while discussed what they have been doing and guests were introduced.
George announced that the program for today was cancelled because the guest speaker had to work.
BUSINESS
FLY-IN is currently scheduled tentatively for September 15. However, George does not think that the necessary work to bury the electrical wires will be completed by that date. It was unanimously agreed to change the Fly-In date to October 20th. We must get paperwork submitted to the EAA 30 days in advance. Also, discussed advertising and how to avoid problems if the date should change. Tom Saccio suggested that the food should be more enticing than hamburgers and hot dogs. George mentioned that church groups and/or civic groups often cater meals. Tommy Stancil and Tom Saccio volunteered to get more information on who might cater the event [100+ people]. Also, Berry St. John will look into activities such as "bomb" drops that will make the Fly-In more entertaining.
WEBSITE needs upgrading. Josh Brehm volunteered to work with Bob on upgrading the site. We also need to provide a link to the South Oak Aerodrome website for location and pictures. John Potter will provide some aerial pictures.
NEWSLETTER has been completed by Marv Jensen. It should be e-mailed to all members within the next day or so. It is imperative that all members participate in contributing to the newsletter in order for it to be successful. They should send their information, pictures, etc. to Marv by the end of the first week of every month so that he can publish by the 15th of the month [before the monthly EAA meeting]. Josh suggested sending the newsletter as PDF file and putting it on the website.
T-SHIRTS, POLO SHIRTS and HATS - George will order approximately 3 dozen gray t-shirts in various sizes. Polo shirts will be ordered per individual requests. Marv Jensen would like the baseball caps to have a "harder" front.
MEALS are currently set for the rest of the year. Wiley Price is providing the meal in August. Rabon Wilkins will be doing the September meal unless the monthly meeting is held at the Saccios. October meal provided [catered?] at the Fly-In. November meal will be cooked by Marv and Laurlie Jensen. December meeting is Christmas party with members bringing a dish.
PROGRAMS George Tamvakis will be scheduled in November to do a program on electrical work. Taft Stallings at Dillons may do the August program with regard to flying and health and medical issues. Tom Saccio has left a message with Jerry Toms to do a meeting.
Rabon Wilkins has numerous aviation magazines that he would like to donate to the Chapter library - if and when it is established.
George mentioned the Thursday get-togethers at 6 pm at South Oak by the hangars. Friends and family are invited. Donations of $5 per permission requested.
Treasurer's report given.
Members gave reports on their various projects.
Discussion on progressive meetings - suggested go to a member's home for monthly meeting and to look at their project or go to a member's home after the monthly meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:40 am and lunch was donated by Josh Brehm. |
