EAA CHAPTER 1423
MEETING SUMMARY
The meeting was called to order at
George welcomed everyone and then informed the group that EAA Chapter 1423 is now an official chapter. The chapter was commended in achieving official status in such a short amount of time.
EAA national will be posting an article concerning the new chapter in the local newspaper.
It was discussed and decided that since the Meeting Minutes are now posted on the chapter website, it will only be necessary to give a quick review of outstanding issues from the minutes at each meeting instead of reading the entire minutes each time.
George showed the EAA Handbook to the group. This book has information such as how chapters operate and services available for use by the chapter. EAA offers free videos to its chapters. The only cost involved is shipping costs. George passed around a list of available videos. Bob Neil, Chapter Webmaster will work on putting a link to the EAA Handbook and Video List on the website along with an email link to George for members to request a certain video.
George discussed the Program Schedule for our chapter and
asked for suggestions from the group for future programs. There are two programs already planned. The March program will be done by Bob Woods,
the DAR for this area. He will discuss
the FAA requirements for inspections and obtaining Airworthiness
Certificates. Mr. Woods will also join
us again sometime in the summer to share with the group information about the
Ford Trimotor that he has completed.
Suggestions for other programs included: a welding program whereby a
One of our members suggested implementing a Tool Library / Tool and Equipment Sharing Program. After discussing several plans, the following seemed to be the easiest way of achieving the program:
Bob Neil will setup a discussion board on the chapter website. People can then post to this bulletin board either with an “I need a….” or “I have a ….”. Then those people can contact each other for that particular item. There will also be a spreadsheet form emailed to each member. Each member can then complete the form listing what tools they would be willing to lend. These spreadsheets will then be consolidated into one big list and emailed to all members. It was decided that there will be no set fee for use of the tools but rather whatever the renter wants to donate to the chapter. The person who owns the tool will be responsible for turning the donation into the chapter. The tool list should include only aircraft oriented tools.
Another area of discussion was that of the chapter name and logo. Member, John Knapp shared with the group several sketches of logo ideas that his wife, Sue had put together.
The motion was made and seconded to call the chapter “Winterville Wings”. George asked everyone to bring ideas for the logo design to the February meeting.
The Treasurer’s Report was read by Laura Lee Potter and approved.
