EAA Chapter 1423 Minutes

August 18, 2007 Meeting

George Tamvakis called the meeting to order at 10:05 am

Thursday evening cook-outs have been very successful and will continue until weather and/or light become a factor.

Taft Stallings from Dillon's was supposed to present today's program, but was unable to clear his work schedule. He will present the program in September.

YOUNG EAGLES - Carl Bonner has organized a Young Eagles Day on September 8, 2007 at the Washington Airport. If you wish to participate or register to fly, please contact Carl. This event is not specific to one EAA chapter, so pilots determine which EAA chapter will receive credit.

NEWSLETTER - Marv Jensen sent out the electronic newsletter. Only a few people stated that they did not receive it via e-mail. Each month there will be a contest to identify a plane pictured in the newsletter.

FLY-IN - The work on the electrical wiring should be completed by the end of September. There was a motion to confirm the Fly-In date for October 20 which was unanimously approved. There is no rain date planned. Members suggested activities such as bombing exercise and spot landing be organized as well as a presentation on our chapter and the South Oaks Aerodrome.

Fly-In committee personnel are:

Chairman - Tom Saccio Field Safety - John Knapp

Airboss - Dennis Millsap Food - Charles Lewis

Ground Boss - Wes Banks Misc - George Tamvakis & Sandy Saccio

There was a discussion of having AV fuel available for sale. Tom Saccio has 100 gallon tank which he will bring. We will also have gas containers. Notice should be put in ads stating that, if needed, limited amounts of fuel will be available but you must reserve fuel in advance.

The committee will be meeting some time next week to discuss logistics and duties. George will take care of EAA paperwork and he and Tom will be sending out an electronic flyer to other EAA chapters and groups.

WEBSITE - Josh Brehm updated the website with Bob Neil. There is now a link to South Oaks Aerodrome website.

Sandy Saccio read the Treasurer's Report. Discussion about funds available for Fly-In costs, t-shirts and stickers with EAA logos.

The following is the meal and program schedule for the next several months:

September 15 Meal - Rabon & Glenda Wilkins Program - Taft Stallings

October 20 FLY-IN

November 17 Meal - Marv & Laurlie Jensen

Meeting was adjourned at 11:35 am and lunch was provided by Wiley Price.
